A Journey 🪄

Ravi Soups began with the vision of our founder, Ravi Kanagarajah, known as Toronto's "Soup King." Born in Kilinochchi, Sri Lanka, Ravi's culinary journey started early, inspired by his father's bustling hotel restaurant, Nathan Cafe. By the age of 14, Ravi was at the helm of the family business, honing his skills and passion for cooking.

In 1991, Ravi immigrated to Canada, bringing with him a rich tapestry of culinary traditions. Starting as a dishwasher, his dedication and talent propelled him to the position of Saucier at a renowned Toronto restaurant—Mildred's Temple Kitchen, where he earned his nickname with his exceptional soups and sauces.

In 2007, Ravi realized his dream by opening the first Ravi Soups location at 322 Adelaide Street West. Despite the challenges of a location where previous businesses had struggled, Ravi's unwavering commitment to quality and innovation quickly garnered a loyal following. His unique fusion of Western cooking techniques with Asian spices offered Torontonians a fresh and exciting culinary experience.

Ravi passed away in 2013 at the age of 42. However, his legacy endures through RaviSoups, which continues to serve the community with the same dedication to excellence that Ravi instilled. Today, we honor his memory by maintaining the high standards and innovative spirit that have made RaviSoups a beloved Toronto institution.

Our menu reflects Ravi's culinary journey, featuring signature and much loved soups like the Porcini Mushroom Wild Rice Bisque and the Curried Apricot and Red Lentil Soup, as well as a variety of wraps and salads that showcase his commitment to fresh, natural ingredients.
